The Liga Undercrown blend was born at the Drew Estate factory in Estelí, Nicaragua, after the rollers developed such a fondness for smoking Liga Privada cigars that they were eventually asked to cut back due to limited tobacco supplies and overwhelming demand. In response, the rollers crafted their own blend using many of the same premium Nicaraguan and Brazilian tobaccos found in Liga Privada cigars, but sourced from different primings of the plant and paired with a new wrapper leaf. They selected a dark San Andrés Negro wrapper for its oily texture, rich character, naturally sweet spice, and greater availability. The result is a 91-rated, medium to full-bodied cigar layered with notes of fresh-ground coffee, hickory, vanilla bean, and pepper.
