Know what is in your humidor without opening it

Each cigar in your humidor is logged with a quantity, so you always know how many you actually have left. Organise them across as many named humidors as you keep — each with its own description, its own shelves and a capacity to work against, and one of them marked as the default so adding a cigar takes one tap fewer.

Every cigar records where it sits — which humidor and which shelf — along with the date you added it and a note of your own, for the things that do not fit in a field.

It works the same whether you are tracking forty sticks in one box or four thousand across a walk-in.

There is no cap on how much you can hold — not on the number of different cigars, not on how many of each. A single box of twenty-five and a wall of singles are both just stock.

Start an aging clock on any item, set a rest target in months, and get reminded when it is ready to smoke. A cigar bought three years ago and one bought last week are different cigars, and your humidor treats them that way instead of lumping every box of the same line together.

The aging timeline then splits your humidor in two: what is ready now, and what is still resting, each row showing how many months it has had against the target you set. Ready cigars also feed Pick for Me, below.

Pick for Me chooses a cigar out of your own humidor, four ways: a quick pick, something that has passed its aging target, something for a special occasion, or something that suits what you are drinking.

It ranks what you own rather than the catalogue, and it weighs a lot at once: the time of day and the day of the week, how long the cigar will take, what you have smoked recently so you are not handed the same thing twice, the wrappers and strengths your journal says you like, what you said you had in the glass, the season, how much you paid, and how the community rates it.

One piece of that is worth saying out loud: rarity counts against a cigar on an ordinary evening and for it on a special occasion. It will not hand you the thing you have been saving on a Tuesday.

In the app it can ask first: how long you have — under thirty minutes, half an hour to an hour, an hour to ninety minutes, or all evening — what mood you are in, and whether there is coffee, whiskey or rum, or beer or wine alongside. Length and ring gauge are what turn 'I have an hour' into a real shortlist.

If nothing fits everything you asked for, it loosens one condition at a time rather than coming back empty, and it tells you why it picked what it picked. Reroll steps through the runners-up, and Smoke it takes you straight into the journal with that cigar already filled in.

Log a temperature and humidity reading against a humidor whenever you check it, with a note if something explains the number. The readings build a history you can look back through rather than a single figure that tells you nothing about last month.

Each humidor carries its own target range for humidity and for temperature, and readings outside it are flagged as out of spec. Your humidor stats show the latest reading alongside the rest of your collection's numbers.

The other warning is about you rather than the cigars: switch it on and a humidor tells you when it has not been checked lately — no reading for longer than the number of days you set, or no reading at all — so a humidor you stopped watching does not quietly pass for a healthy one.

Record the purchase price and location for each cigar as you add it. Multiply that by quantity and your collection's value is right there — recorded and totalled from what you actually paid, not estimated by any pricing model.

Your humidor stats put the rest of it in one place: how many sticks you hold, what they cost you, how many are ready to smoke, what you own broken down by wrapper, and the brands you hold most of.

The same numbers come out as a dated, itemised PDF — every priced item, with subtotals and a total at cost — for the inventory list an insurer asks for and you would otherwise type by hand.

Set a restock par level on the cigars you always want on hand, and your humidor flags anything that has fallen below it — the count sits on the Buy tab so you can see at a glance whether anything needs attention.

Two more lists sit beside it. Out of favourites catches the cigars you rate highly and have run down to nothing — the ones you would notice missing. The wishlist holds what you have not bought yet, added with the bookmark on any cigar's page.

The humidor and the journal are the two halves of the same picture. Log a cigar you smoked straight from your humidor and the quantity comes down automatically — no separate bookkeeping to keep the two in sync.
