There are too few cigar bands that include pink, and that’s a shame because its use on the pink, gold, and black band of the Southern Draw Rose of Sharon serves to emphasize the shimmering highlights that gleam from the Connecticut wrapper’s oily skin. Brisk in aroma and with a hint of pepper on the lips when cold, the cigar blooms to full beauty as soon as the lightly box-pressed 5 1/2” x 54 barrel is lit. Leather, espresso, cedar, and nutmeg are the primary flavors, while a sweet undercurrent of buttercream keeps the strength an easy mild-plus. Remaining cool and luscious throughout the long smoking time, you’ll be reluctant when it’s time to set it down.
